4D Ultrasound
So how is 4D ultrasound different than 3D ultrasound? A very common question. The easiest way to describe 4D is to picture a 3D image in your head, then imagine it moving. 4D is 3D "live" or 4th demension - 4 demenisional -3D in movement. It is the color images you see in movement. Because it is "live" or in movement (4D), this movement is often recorded into a video format. This video format is an excellent source because it allows you to excerpt individual images from it, save it to a recorded medium (CD, DVD, etc) and manipulate it as one may seem fit. It allows Sonographers to capture a segment of an ultrasound session and "cherry pick" when the baby gives the best images.
